Erwang temple, build in 494-498 A.D. was the sacrificial temple for commemorating Mr.Libing and his son. It has been one of the most important bequest in local, The temple locates at the north bank of Dujiangyan water irrigation, one kilometer away from Dujiangyan city, northwest of Sichuan Province.Erwang temple is provided with common character in traditional building of local area and west of Sichuan province. At the same time, be affect by local culture and religion culture, it has different character from local traditional building. Common character and different character let Erwang temple has commonness and individuality. The former give it clime feature, the latter give it particular temperament. Erwang temple has great value in local traditional building and research work because of the inosculate two of them. The text want to summarize two of them, through the process in research work.It compares Erwang temple with other traditional building in west of Sichuan province in text. As the primary clue, it analyses the phenomena exhibit form building, as the secondary clue, it compares with other traditional building, through the two clue, develop the research field, enrich the content, improve the level of research work.In the beginning of the thesis, it delineate developing track of Erwang temple, reader can realize the history of it. In the middle part of thesis, there compose of three chapter, analyze the base selection, layout of group, the feature of space, and the feature of building systemic and exhaustively, from macrocosm to microcosm, from geist to sense, in order to find out the method of how to manage physiognomy, how to inosculate environment, how to figure the space, and how to deal with the configuration of building, method of build, decorate of building. In last of thesis, it dig out the culture of connotation in phenomenon, through the result of researching above, in order to find out the reason of produce the phenomenon in building. At the same time, author want to give some understand and attitude from the phenomenon in building and some problem of actuality, through researching deeply.Author want to not only learn the method of research traditional building, but also find out some practicability worth which can be used in design and research work in today, through the process of research, in order to inherit and develop native traditionalbuilding.
