The shear connector is one of the most important components in the steel-concrete composite structure for preventing longitudinal slip and vertical separation between steel and concrete.This can make the steel and the concrete component whose elastic modulus are of great difference into one integral structure and work together.This thesis briefly introduces the function of the shear connectors,the concept of shear stiffness, shear connection degree, slippage and so on. The development and the production of the new shear connectors are also introduced.The mechanics characteristics of the shear connectors has been analysed.A new experimental method is adopted to investigate the main mechanical characteristics of 28 specimens in seven sub-types and three types including stud and PBL shear connectors.Combine the model test with finite element method,the main work has been done as follows:1. The carrying capacity and the stiffness of each studied shear connector type in linearity phase have been analysed;2. The ultimate capacity and the slippage of each studied shear connector type have been analysed;3. The fracture mechanism and the load-slippage rule of each studied shear connector type have been analysed;4. The mechanics characteristics affection factor of each studied shear connector type have been analysed;5. The uniform calculation formula for each studied shear connector type is established.
