The concrete carbonification and the corrosion of the steel reinforcement embedded in concrete are important influences to the R. C. structure durability; so when the steel reinforcement starts corroding and when concrete clear cover starts cracking and slitting from the rebar are supposed to be the most two important problems to evaluate the R. C. structure's durability. First, the author analyzes the principle and the influence of the concrete carbonification and the corrosion of the steel reinforcement; then the current prognosticated models of the concrete carbonifcation and that of the reinforcement corrosion depth before the concrete clear cover cracks and slits from the reinforcement. Later on, the on-site concrete durability test of the trestlework in the workshop building is taken as one example to analyze the concrete cover and the dept of its carbonifaction. Finally, based on the above-mentioned model, the author evaluates the carbonifaction durability, and the concrete clear cover expansion and crack durability and the structure durability according to the limit of the crack width in order to compare the result based on the principle with the actual test one. |
