Study On Conservation Of The Dwelling Culture And Living Environment Of The Xi'an Muslim Concentrated Area

On one hand, Xi'an Muslim concentrated area is a historic street block in the old city, on the other hand, it is a Muslim community which has the particular dwelling culture. Whereas its living environment is very bad now, its quality of community and ascription is weakening, and its dwelling culture is declining. Aiming at the actualities, the thesis take the preservation of life style and living environment of the Xi'an Muslim concentrated area as the research target. The purpose is to protect the history and culture of this region.This thesis could be divided into four parts. In the first part, the theories and experiments concerned have been analyzed from both domestic and the international view. The experience of the former investigators' success and failure has been summarized, from which more lessons could be drawn and learnt. Then the Cultural Ecology Theory, the Humanities Preservation Theory, the Systems Theory and the Organic Renewal Theory have been the main theories in this thesis.In the second part, starting with tracing back the historical evolution of the development of Xi'an Muslim concentrated area, its religious tradition and national style is studied synthetically and thoroughly. It has been the cultural background of the preservation.In the last part, aiming at the residential formation of the Xi'an Muslim concentrated area, its material main factors and present situation is analyzed. Basing on the analysis, the thesis suggests the principles and methods of the conservation of the dwelling culture and living environment in the Xi'an Muslim concentrated area.
