The Application Of The Art Of Traditional Chinese Landscape Architecture To The Construction Of City Parks

This paper focuses on the application of the art of traditional Chinese landscape architecture to the construction of modern city parks. The discussion is based on thorough investigation and summarization of the data on city parks combined with the field survey, the description of the art of traditional Chinese landscape architecture, the introduction of the history and development of city parks and the theories in their planning and designing, and the analysis of the city parks in Beijing as practical examples.The paper also summarizes the experience in the application of the art of traditional Chinese landscape architecture to the construction of city parks in the light of the investigation and study on their present state, including their layout, paths, architecture, vegetation, surroundings, and the comprehensive analysis of such elements as the characteristics of city parks and the effects of the theory in their planning and designing. In addition, some suggestions are put forward in this field.The paper also point out that the construction of city parks in future should pay attention to the culture of the specific district, and should draw on the experience of the art of traditional Chinese landscape architecture. It's the issue that every Chinese landscape architect should speculate on.
