Concrete is often damaged because of lacking of durability in salty environment. Besides chemical attack, salts can also cause physical attack to concrete, which can damage concrete much rapidly and easily than chemical attack.On the basis of the analysis of the damage characteristics and mechanisms of salt physical attack , the resistance of ordinary concrete, high performance concrete and reactive powder concrete(RPC) to salt physical attack is evaluated in this paper. And the accelerating test method is employed. The variation of the mass, modulus of elasticity, compressive strength, splitting strength, micropore characteristics and volumetric water absorption of the specimens is discussed. The effect of the original volumetric water absorption, compressive strength ,splitting strength and water to binder ratio on the test is also discussed. The ways to improve the resistance of concrete to salt physical attack are discussed. Test results are as follows:(1) Compared to ordinary concrete, high performance concrete exhibit better resistance to salt physical attack and RPC exhibit best resistance to salt physical attack.(2) The variation of the mass, modulus of elasticity, compressive strength, splitting strength, micropore characteristics and volumetric water absorption of the specimens is a reflection of the behavior of the concretes under salt physical attack.(3) The resistance of concrete to salt physical attack and the variation of all the parameters is greatly affected by the original volumetric water absorption. And the original volumetric water absorption can be regarded as a criteria to evaluate the resistance of concrete to salt physical attack.(4) High density leads to low porosity and the developing of high performance is a good way to improve the resistance of concrete to salt physical attack.(5) Steel fiber can greatly improve the resistance of concrete to salt physical attack when the concrete is damaged due to cracks.(6) The damage styles of the concretes are different. |
