Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) is a new type motor, and it has some excellent characteristics: simple structure, convenient maintenance even no maintenance, higher torque and lower current when start or low speed, and so on. Thus, the SRM is applied in the household electrical appliance, generic industry, servo and variable-speed system, traction and high speed filed.However, the temperature rise in SRM is serious because of its high power density, small radiate area in concentrated winding and high heat loading. So temperature rise is analyzed base on a SRM used for electric bus in this paper. The analysis of temperature rise in SRM has adopted the tools of Simulink and Partial differential equation (PDE) in Matlab. The heat circuit diagram is proposed to analyze the SRM temperature rise, and simulated by the Simulink in Matlab. An iteration method is proposed to dispose the nonlinear heat resister and source. The effect of structure, craft and material is analyzed and given to guide the electric machine design by the compute result..SRM temperature field is compute by the finite element method, and the SRM two-dimension temperature field compute is programmed with PDE tool in Matlab. The recessive equation when computing is solved with the multidimensional chord truncation method. And then, the calculation is given.Finally SRM temperature rise is put to test and the result is given in this paper. The calculation results are compared with test results and the result are corresponding. The differences between calculation results and test are analyzed at last.
