With the fast developing computer technology, relay protection testing device is developing to embedded system. This provides the hardware system of relay protection testing device a very expanding space to be integrated, minimized, high characteristic, high performance.This article proposes the Relay Protection Testing Device based on DSP and Embedded System and develops it, referring to some typical relay protection testing devices. With this method, the device performances of its optimized capability, cabinet cubage, steady high speed communications, friendly and intuitionistic interface, more strong function and more convenient update.Using embedded computer PCM-9577 as upper computer core hardware platform and DSP TMS320F2812 of TI company as lower core communications controller and taking PCI bus as communication method, we developed this relay protection testing device based on DSP and embedded system mentioned in this article. In chapter one, it introduces the theory, history and actuality of relay protection testing devices first, then proposes the scheme of this system and the task of this research. In chapter two, it designs system scheme in details and introduces embedded system, TMS320F2812 DSP and PCI bus using in this device. In chapter three, it designs and realizes the hardware platform of the device first, including the selection of embedded computer and its external equipment such as the keyboard and the mouse, design and realization of core communications control board based on DSP, design and realization of PCI bus communications interface, the CPLD logic combination, and the selection of DAC involving its working theory and hardware connection. Then, it introduces and designs the power amplifier of current source and voltage source, the output and input circuit and the protection circuit. In chapter four, the software of each part of the system is designed. First, the data generating method is studied, realizing with C language and ASM language so as to form the software of DSP system, which includes the interrupt program module communicating with PCI interface, the interrupt program module sending output and checking input and output signal. Then it introduces testing application program, which runs on upper embedded computer. In chapter five, it summarizes all above to points out strongpoints and shortcomings and gives us an application prospect.
