Research On Visual Communication Of Architectural Material

With the development of productivity and the advance of the society, the environment has been greatly promoted. On the occasion of the great satisfaction of the substance, we should pay more attention to the spiritual and emotional requirements, especially the architects who should better understand the spiritual requirement of the public and reflect the requirements into their designs. However, currently most of the domestic architectural works can not properly imply the visual languages such as material and color, which have ignored the importance of these elements on the general visual vision and cultural function, divulged the common shortcomings, and can not better shape the visual vision of the architecture to meet the architectural spirit and cultural function.Regarded as the substantial basis of beauty-forming and the certain media of human emotion, materials themselves contain the emotional information equivalent to the human psychology. This thesis firstly illustrates the essential definition and related characters of materials, and then, from the visual angle, analyzes the materials' important influences to the physical and psychological activities of human beings.Secondly, this thesis describes the functions of materials from the relationship between the materials and the architectural elements such as space, structure and details, and the relationship between the materials and the artificial characters in architecture such as the traditional and creative characters, the environmental and context. As the substantial basis of architecture, the evitable condition of architectural creation, materials have a close relationship with each element. And the poetic architectural languages expressed by the materials have a strong power ofshowing. The potential vitality of materials is one of the architectural origins and the expressional means. In the visual expression of the architectural image and the art significance, materials all have the potential possibility. At the same time, this thesis simply discusses the implements of industrial design, which is helpful to architecture design.Finally, this thesis concludes the important significance of the materials in the architectural design, which is a good illumination to the development of Chinese architectural design. My expectation of the tendency of the materials' implements and developments is put forward. And this thesis also deeply thinks over the problems of architects and the architectural education reflected by the current situation of Chinese architecture, and presents the illumination and reference to the materials.
