Masonry pagodas are deputies of ancient high-rise buildings which are source materials in studying on ancient construction technologies and architecture history. While damaged naturally or artificial, most masonry pagodas are structural impaired or deviated. Protection to masonry pagodas is crucial. And of all safeguards deviation rectification is focal point, In this article, considering characters of pagodas' sub-ground, foundation, structure and earthquake damage, deviating causes of pagodas are analyzed. And as an example, the rectification of Jingguang temple pagoda in Meixian county has been simulated with FEM. The result of calculation has been compared with the project. Such work has been done as follows:1. For collapsible loess, its collapsible mechanism and deform calculating means have been studied. Then its elastic-perfect plastic and elastic-harden plastic constitute models have been analyzed.2. The deviating mechanism of pagodas and deviation rectification constructions have been analyzed. Indicate: Deviating causes of pagodas include structural fact, sub-ground facts and other facts. Consequentially, drawing out clay method and injecting method are usefully deviation rectified methods in collapsible loess ground.3. The process to deviate rectified of pagoda has been simulated by FEM. The model can be established either including or excluding co-reaction. And in main point, the method to establish a FEM model excluding co-reaction has been explored.4. By analysis to deviation rectification construction of Jingguang pagoda in MeiXian county, a model for drilling hole and softening which exclude co-reaction has been presented, the result coincide with the construction perfectly. Indicated, the method for drilling hole and softening is an effective method to rectify pagodas in collapsible loess ground. However, the process to rectify a pagoda is complexity, which relates to the structure, thefoundation, the sub-ground and there are many issues to research on.
