| The old city area of the Ming Dynasty is the core center area of Xi'an, the splendid historical city of thousands of years.And the roofs in the area, which are concerned as the 5th facade of the construction, are very important element for the composition of the city landscape. Especially in Chinese traditional architecture, the roofs are one of the most artistic parts which are called as the crown of the construction. Regardless of the composition, implication and diversification, building roofs are always the key element in architecture during the long history.First of all, the thesis begins with the ideas of the historical city preservation and the form pattern of the roofs in the historical city. Then based on the survey from June to November in 2004 and the study on typological analysis of the formal character of the roofs in the area, the author tries to reveal the substructure and the context of the building roofs in the area in Xi'an city during this economically leaping period. And at last, from the synchronic and diachronic view of the research on the formal character of the roofs in the area, the archetype, form pattern and trend have been concluded. Meanwhile, the color, texture, self-identity and the reconstruction issue of the roofs in the area during the development history of the city has also been discussed and the suggestion has been made.The paper belongs to the prior study of the preservation planning of Xi'an historical area. |
