With modernization of port, the status of crane already seems more and more important in port. But craftwork of loading, one of the most influential factors which influence the efficiency and economic benefits to the port is crane. The cost of crane is up to 40%-50% in the total cost of loading machine. The efficiency of port loading has depended on the technological state of loading machine to a great extent already. Because of its large-scale and compact structure, direct observation and frequent disassembly are not available for monitoring and routine management. Thus it is necessary to find out a reasonable approach for this subject.According to this problem, we introduce into the notion of Condition Based Maintenance. In order to realize Condition Based Maintenance, at first we must estimate the present state of the equipment, then determine the way of maintenance according to the real state of the equipment. Realization of condition based maintenance must include the contents of three respects: Condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, Condition Based Maintenance. Condition Based Maintenance developed from 1970s and based on the theory of fault, and it is used widely in Electricity and textile industry, but in the port machine it can scarcely be used, especially as to the facility part.This thesis discusses the structural characteristic and condition monitoring of slew bearing with mechanical measurement and experiment technology according to vibration, and selects the maximal of the vibration energy as the character parameter. According to this character parameter we can realize the Condition Based Maintenance and build up a database with it. At the same time, we can Carry on statistical analysis and calculate the best testing periodic time with computer.The thesis has three parts. First, the thesis discusses the basic situation of maintenance management of the equipment. Second, the paper studies Condition Based Maintenance of large slew bearing based on the fault diagnosis, and sets up the parameter database of the characteristic. Third, the paper mainly studies the best testing periodic time of Condition Based Maintenance of large slew bearing.
