With the application of the pipeline transport technology in industrial fields such as metallurgy, coal mines, chemical processes and environment protection, more and more scholars pay attention to and engage in the research of two-phase flow. There are four emphases in -research, for instance, flow state in pipeline, distribution of concentration and velocity, deposition-limit velocity and calculation of flow resistance or head loss. As one of the key points in the design of a pipeline transport, study on the flow resistance of pipeline sand transport is of great significance. Calculation of the flow resistance is also the basic problem in dredging engineering of rivers, lakes, harbors and waterways. It is an important factor to the design of the sand transport system, because it directly determines the choice of power drives and operation cost. This paper focuses on the sand transport in dredging engineering and studies the flow friction head loss and the deposition-limit velocity. The experimental research of flow resistance and deposition-limit velocity under different concentrations and flow velocities is carried out. The particle mean diameter is equal to d50=0. 38mm. Calculation analysis and discussion on the models for the flow resistance and deposition-limit velocity are presented.
