The R. C. special-shaped columns frame structure is one kind of new economical energies residential building which has only been researched in the recent 20 years. This type building is filled with lightweight material filler-walls which make it lightweight, heat-preservation and benefit to the anti-seismic design. In the practical engineering, the frame-structure with special-shaped columns has obtained great society, economic and environment benefit. This kind of structure has been popular used in Guangzhou, tianjin, shenzhen and shanghai etc. The practice proved that the special-shaped columns frame structure has so many advantages such as being changed easily, economical and low price, what more, Its residential environment is better than normal R. C structure and the space can be take efficiently advantage of . This paper related to a practical residential building project studying the anti-seismic performance of the R. C. special-shaped columns frame structure which are at the higher seismic fortification criterion region(8 degree of seismic fortification intensity) and two type site by comparing with R.C. rectangle columns ,Under the horizontal earthquake action and considering the wind force, earthquake action analysis was done by the spatial finite element method through changing the structural Parameters. Analyzing systematically" structure vibration mode" , " vibration period" , " structure lateral rigidity", "seismic action force" , "seismic response force" , "floor seismic shear force" , "lateral horizontal displacement of structure" and "members internal force " .Results indicate:(1)Based on equal area, the special-shaped columns replaced the rectangle columns, the structural lateral rigidity enlarges, the lateral displacement reduced obviously, the earthquake response decrease slightly, the biggest increasing amount of frame columns axis-compress ratio is smaller than 0. 08, the whole anti-seismic performance of structure has improved ;(2) In the higher seismic fortification criterion region (8 degree of seismic fortification intensity) , two type building site , adopting special-shaped columns structure system , should reduce possibly the building's self-weight in order to reduce the earthquake response;(3)The response spectrum method of computing seismic response and the time-history analysis method have similar analysis result.Finally, the results in this paper can be Put forward for Practical engineering design.
