The defects or accidents of curve beam bridge occur often in practice of construction due to lack of knowledge on the characteristics of curve beam bridge.As a result, it is urgently necessary to carry out analysis on curve beam bridge with respect to the design, construction managemen, repairing and strongthening.This paper studies and summarizes the characteristics, design and structure principles of prestressed concrete continuous curved box-girder bridge, especially of the simple-supported pretressed concrete continuous curved box-girder with sole pier. It points out that the special attention should be laid on the design of bearing system and prestressed system and be aware of the creep displacement caused by temperature and centrifugal force.The paper, citing the example of the displacement accident of Shenzhen Huaqiang Bei bridge Lane A, conducts an overall analysis on the reasons of the accident in terms of assessment, design and implementation of repairing and strongthening, monitoring during construction and load tests after repairing and strengthening. The reason of the accident is that the transverse restriction of bearing system is too weak and unable to stop the creep displacement of beam caused by temperature and centrifugal force, leading to falling down of beam body suddenly.A deep study has been made by using the data measured on the site in the assessment of the bridge. The study shows that, except for the damage of bearing system, the displacement caused no damages on the beam body, column and top of pier. The bridge assessment result shows that the implementation of bridge repairing and strengthening is to rebuild bearing system and reposition the beam. This paper also points out that the monitoring of construction process is very important. The static and dynamic load test results turned out that that the repairing and strengthening of Shenzhen Huaqiang Bei bridge Lane A is successful and the bridge can meet the design load requirements in use.
