The atrium exhibits the extraordinary value as a cultural, economical, recreational and communication center, thus making it popular in various public buildings. But during the actual usage, many atriums expose that people is only focus on how great the looking on the building at vision point of view and ignores the influence from weather and environment to the architecture. It causes some problems such as atriums design are unreasonable and energy usage is too high. If we do not expend a lot of energy for heating and cooling, it is difficult to satisfy the demand of comfort from user. Large space volume and skylight/window area differs the atrium from general architectures. Issues on the atrium thermal environment control draw many researchers interest world widely. Wuhan is the typical region which hot in summer and cold in winter, in this region, buildings must operate with high expense, energy and poisonous emission in order to resist ultra-temperature. Since the environment is a result of many complex conditions, it brings big troubles for architects in their analyzing works. Take computer simulation technology in environment analysis will make it more facility and more efficiency. Aimed at the climate, this paper makes theoretical analysis and computer simulation research for atrium on its wind environment and thermal comfort quantity, studies the relations among the internal conditions and the building, climate, outside, and gives some proposes to improve the performance of atrium. Through this, the thesis hopes to find the best atrium compatible to the special climate in Wuhan.
