Because environment pollution and shortage of the energy caused by the using of cars are increasing concerned, the development of hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) has taken on an accelerated pace. The general definition of HEV is a vehicle in which propulsion energy is available from two or more kinds or types of energy stores, sources, or converters and at least one of them can deliver electrical energy. Ordinary people have already borne in mind that an HEV is simply a vehicle having both an ICE and electric motor.Control strategies for hybrid vehicles are algorithms that choose at each sampling time the power split between the engine and the motor in order to fulfill the demands of saving energy and environment protection. Three different control strategies for SY6480 parallel HEV are designed in this paper. They are electric assist, real time and fuzzy logic control strategy. The characteristic of these three control strategies are given in details. With the help of ADVISOR, the vehicle model for SY6480 PHEV is built in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment in order to compare the fuel consumption of different control strategies.According to the requirement of different control strategies, the input signals and structure of the controller are discussed. It is the basis of the realization of the control strategy. How the regenerative braking effecting on the vehicle performance is analyzed and how many percent braking energy can be regenerated is given. Finally what should be kept in mind when matching the parameters of PHEV is discussed.
