With high efficiency, energy saving and high dependability for temperature control, the Capillary Pumped Loop (CPL), as a two-phase thermo-control system, is applied in many high tech fields such as controlling heat transfer on air craft, cooling high power density electronic devices. Based on the latest investigation results, this article will show us the research work on the CPL of flat style in the ways of mechanism analysis, experimental design introduction and numerical simulation. In this article, we analyze the mechanism of phase-changing in the porous wick of CPL evaporator and discuss the physical explanation of the system-driving force. Particularly, we analyze the phase-changing phenomenon coupling with the capillary tension and set forth the advantages of phase-changing characteristic in porous wick. Comparing the theory of single-driving force and the theory of two-interface-driving forces, we put forward the conception of the phase-changing capillary pump and get a good way to explain the phenomenon correctly and retain the advantage of easily calculation procedure. Also, we have done some research work in practical system design, and present some methods to the component and system thermal parameters selection. With the theoretical explanation and the numerical simulation results for the porous wick and gas outlet groove, we also give some advices to optimize the structure and present some parameters for design. Further more, an example for the experimental platform design is shown in this paper. The procedure for the system thermal calculation and the primary parameters selection is discussed. Then, we also finish the basic software design for the CPL analysis. The software can do some numerical simulation for the procedure of heat and mass transfer in the evaporator and condenser unit, it can display the data results in the styles of nephogram, vectorgraph, isoline and curve related with time. It also can do the calculation for the driving force and the pressure loss in the flowing circuit. In the paper, we describe the thinking in software design and the methods for function expanding. We do some useful work for the CPL automation design. In fact, we also discuss some arithmetic problems for numerical simulation in the two-layered saturated model, which is used to explain the phase-changing phenomenon with moving interface. We discuss the methods to ensure the continuity in the phase interface and set forth some advices for further improvement.
