Train as a traffic instrument, its safety and comfort are two most concerned problems for the people. With the full-scale acceleration of main railways in our country, these two ones are more remarkable.Derail coefficient and ride quality are two quantitative standards for evaluating safety and comfort of train. International Organization for Standardization and International Union of Railways have made appropriate standards. Through special research, especially through plenty of tests, Japan, U.S, Britain and France have revised and drawn up specific plans suitable for their own applications founded on the international.Our National Bureau for Standardization and State Ministry of Railways have also made appropriate standards, that is ,GB 5599-85 and TB T2360-93. The two standards have provided criterions for production and transformation of locomotives. Because of its defects and limitations caused by time and skill, the two standards have not been able to meet the needs of practical application. This thesis theoretically analyses relationship and difference between these standards and offers improved suggestions founded on plenty of tests.Upon the above mentioned issue, the author has developed the system for evaluation the safety and comfort of the train based on virtual instrument. System hardware is made up by data collecting system consisted mainly of WaveBook/512. System software is a data collecting and processing software package developed by LabVIEW7.0. The simulated test on the roller and vibration test rig of the Traction Power State Key Laboratory of Southwest Jiaotong University precisely reproduces the dynamic operation of locomotive and proves the correctness of improvement methods.
