As the development of commodity economy and the modification of building function, building reinforcement and retrofit step by step plays an important role in building industry. The function, application space and aesthetic of aged existing buildings don't satisfy the demand of city development and their seismic fortification standard is relatively low, so the existing buildings that they don't meet the requirements of the new standard need be reinforced or retrofitted. How to combine the retrofit and seismic reinforcement of buildings that would be reinforced or retrofitted so as to not only meet the requirements of new function but also assure the structural safe reliability and increase structural earthquake-resistance capacity, is a special focal problem of structure earthquake-resistance reinforcement design.The comprehensive aspects are involved in retrofit and seismic reinforcement of existing buildings. Since the tow aspects of existing building and the new-adding part are touched upon, project measure, design standard and materials used are not only aimed at but also the related requirements of current code, rule and standard should be followed; Bearing capacity of existing structure is not only sufficiently explicated, but also the problems about co-operating and co-bearing of the tow new-old structural part should be concerned. So before reinforcement design, the appraisement of the over-all present condition of existing structure should be completed, the choice of seismic reinforcement technology and scheme then bases on the above appraisement. The relatively accurate data of seismic reinforcement computing and checking computation yet is provided from the above appraisement. Thus the reinforcement design is not only safe and reliable but also economic and applicable.The characters of seismic appraisement, reinforcement design about existing structure and the stress of structure been reinforced are relatively systematically analyzed in this article through the study on the retrofit and the design method of structural seismic enforcement of Xiamen cinema-drama yard. The retrofit scheme meeting the practice is selected according to seismic appraisement results of Xiamen cinema-drama yard and the requirements of current codes, standards and so on. Assumptions of earthquake resistance analysis is accordingly presented to assure the relatively accuracy of seismic retrofit design. Moreover, in order to the co-operating and co-bearing of the new-old structural combined body having been retrofitted can not only be realized, but also the entire structural earthquake-resistance performance of structure having been retrofitted or reinforced is increased, the constructional and strengthening measurements, the solving measure of eliminating unfavorable situational earthquake-resistance factors and construction controlling measure of assuring reinforcement design being put into effect are presented on design method.
