In our country, the concrete face rock-fill dam which is a new dam type is developed recently thirty years. This dam type has such virtues as low cost, high security, strong adaptability etc. Because of this, it is at large attached importance to by embankment field and has wonderful application foreground. Presently, our country has accumulated rich practice and experience in damming technique for the concrete face rock-fill dam. In the northeast area of China, after Liaoning Guanmenshan concrete face rock-fill dam was built in 1988, Lianhua hydro-power station, Xiaoshan hydro-power station, Songshan diversion project, in succession adopt this dam type. The concrete face rock-fill dam uses concrete faceplate as mostly anti-seepage structure for dam. Whether anti-seepage capability of concrete faceplate is good or not, directly determines anti-seepage effect and security and stability of dam. In the northeast area of China, the practice indicates that especial climate and hydrology geology conditions and construction factors will influence the concrete face rock-fill dam. Concrete faceplate easily appears different size crack in running phase, especially in construction phase. Therefore, building concrete face rock-fill dam in the northeast area of China, how to avoid concrete faceplate crack, what is used to effectively solve the question of crack, which are very important research problems. In this article, the causes of concrete faceplate appearing I type crack and II type crack (faceplate and toe-plate breakage) are roundly investigated and analyzed, based on inspecting and describing I type crack and II type crack of concrete faceplate of Songshan concrete face rock-fill dam project, and the measures which defend general crack of concrete faceplate of Songshan concrete face rock-fill dam project and disposal methods for different kind of concrete faceplate crack are expounded.
