It is necessary to improve the hardware platform for digital and intelligence instrument because that the data acquisition speed is more and more fast, the data size is more and more big, the time for data processing is more and more short. The commonly hardware platform is based on the embedded technique. There are four kinds of embedded microprocessors: embedded microprocessor(CPU), embedded micro-controller(MCU), embedded digital signal processor(DSP) and embedded system on chip(SOC). These four kinds of techniques have their own advantages for the different applications in instrument realm. The embedded hardware platform based on DSP has a high speed of process with high precision and reliability. In this thesis, the embedded hardware platform based on DSP has been well researched. A miniaturized and intelligence hardware platform has been designed and implemented to process data real-time with strong flexibility in low cost. A floating point DSP and a CPLD has been used to meet the need of flexibility and real-time processing. An image process system has been build-up with the platform and a CMOS image sensor. With the experiments of image collecting and processing by a FFT algorithm, the performance of the hardware platform was verified. Experiment result elucidation the hardware platform has the vast applied foreground in instrument realm. The main research work of this paper includes:Designed and established a high speed embedded signal processing system with the controller of TMS320C6712 and EPM7128S.A CMOS image sensor (OV7120) has been added to the system to implement image collecting. The procedure has been programmed for the data collecting, the two-dimension FFT transform, the image transferring and the system initialization. The debug to the whole system has been completed. The questions and matters need attention have been summarized. The performance analysis of the whole system has been presented.Some methods to improve the performance of the system have been discussed. A new system with high performance has been designed.
