Carrier communication and high-frequency protection are very important and widely used in power system industry. However, the existing testing instruments for carrier channel and interrelated equipments are lagged and need the improvement urgently. As a result, the research on a kind of digital intelligent multifunctional testing system is necessary.On the basis of referring to many literatures and deeply analyzing the characteristic and shortcoming of existing testing instruments, in this paper, a new design method is raised, in which DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and PC technology are adopted in signal processing and man-machine intercommunication respectively.Aiming at certain limitations in existing testing instruments, one newmultifunctional testing system--"Embedded multifunctional carrier wave testingsystem based on DSP" , has been studied and designed in this paper. Firstly, the development and characteristic of DSP technology and embedded system are introduced, then the hardware design and software design of this testing system in this paper are discussed in detail, finally the digital signal processing arithmetic applied in this testing system is studied. On the basis of TI's TMS320VC5409, the hardware design of this testing system applies many novel digital circuit, such as CPLD, A/D and DDS. The software design of this testing system applies the embedded multitask real-time kernel uC/OS-II as the operation system, and the function software is modularized and tasked. This testing system comprises many instruments' functions, such as frequency selective level meter, oscillator, frequency meter, millisecond meter and so on. All measuring data's saving and processing is accomplished by the application soft on the computer.Compared to existing testing instruments, the testing system designed in this paper is one valuable intelligent digital testing system, which has simple structure, high integration and works reliably.
