The Mission Planning system is an important part of the accurate guided weapon system; it designs the flying route and combat program for the weapon. The Mission Planning system is the information processing center of the whole system. As an important source of information, the image data takes a large portion of the data source of mission planning system. However, as the increasing of the image data, it is a question to storage and transmit the data. The technique of image compression is required or highly desired.The good character of localization on wavelet transform makes it a good method for image compression. In this paper, theories about wavelet transform and image compression technique using wavelet transform are first introduced. Then a image compression scheme, which is implemented in C++ language, was designed for the mission planning system. This scheme uses reversible integer wavelet transform and an improved ezw algorithm.
