The main work accomplished is summarized as follows:1. We summarize the movement mechanism and characteristic of linear ultrasonic motor, and respectively analyze the development of some typical linear USM such as travelling wave type, standing wave type, hybrid transducer type, t ionic foot type and so on. The research contents and some questions of USM are pointed out in the way of theory modeling, movement control, application in the engineering etc. and the developing direction is definitude.2. Analyze the work principle of electric energy converting to mechanical energy in the piezoelectric ceramics, prove when hybrid transducer's distortion is a half of the piezoelectric slice the mechanical energy is the most and the ratio of piezoelectric slice and elastomer approximates their elastic modulus' inverse ratio. The driving principle of runner/stator and the influential factors of ellipse movement are discus 5ed.3. A dumbbell-typed linear hybrid USM is designed. The rule about the stator modal frequency being influenced by its shape is studied using the method of finite element analysis. The stator's resonance frequency is confirmed and the basic design method and steps are presented. Using harmonic analyze method, competitive experiment about how to stimulate stator's resonance is carried out. The electrode configure rule and influential factors are found, stator's running track is simulated, then the designed USM's feasibility is validated.4. Modal assumption method is used to build the electro-mechanical dynamic model based on Lagrange Equation. Based on equivalent circuit fundament, the USM's equivalent circuit model is formed. The choice criterion of pre-stressing and its characteristic is analyzed.5. Introducing adhesion theory of friction, hybrid linear USM's basic models of vertical vibration and output speciality are founded. The relation between USM's driving speciality and friction material is studied, the basic needs on frction material is put forward.
