In the transformation of the new and old cultures at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic, Jiangsu Province was in the lead position all over the country. As a region of most developed culture in Jiangsu Province, Suzhou, due to its being close to Shanghai (Shanghai was one of the cities most dynamic in old-new transformation) and having an in-depth cultural accumulation, had its new-rising education and campuses under construction developing at a fairly high speed. On the basis of lots of textual researches and in the study of Suzhou modern campus design, this article tries to introduce campus design categories to reveal Suzhou modern education's development, the effect of Suzhou specific cultural background on its modern campus design and the regularity technique of Suzhou modern campus design, and then to find out how for the modern design to grasp the regional culture, design thought thread and modern rhythm in order to correctly treat the relations between inheritance and development, extraction and innovation as well as protection and reconstruction so as to create a new-type campus design that is able to satisfy the requirements of the contemporary education, society, environment and culture as well as is provided with individual specific character and regional features.
