Acoustic environment is closely linked with human economic and social activities.Problems of acoustic environment especially those of residential acoustic environment have nowbecome a global concern because they affect people's health both physically and mentally andtheir usual behavior. For quite a long time, the situation of it in China has not been givenadequate attention, therefore there exist quite a few problems. Moreover, due to the rapiddevelopment in residential construction and people's living condition in the new age, people'spursuit of more healthy and comfortable living environment pressingly calls for investigationand research of the acoustic environment of residential districts, to find out the existing problemsand the possibility of improvement.Based on investigation and research, this thesis first of all inquires into the relationsbetween noises and human health in light of the negative effect of urban noises to residentialenvironment. Then after field survey of the existing condition of acoustic environment in someresidential areas in Tianjin, the writer explains in detail the changes that have taken place inrecent years. The thesis looks into the method to make program for the residential acousticenvironment and into the possibility and prospect of the using of sound barrier and green belt inresidential district to reduce the noises. And it gives an detailed account of different types ofstructural techniques to improve the interior sound environment. In the end, through comparingthe domestic environment quality standards and assessment index with those abroad, the thesisstresses the necessity to establish an examine and approval mechanism for residential acousticenvironment on the macro-control level, to improve basic research and develop a scientificsystem for predicting, monitoring and supervising the residential sound environment.
