Settlement calculation of pile foundation is a traditional and meaningful subject.A lot of learners have presented many methods to solve this problem. But, due of itscomplexities, none of these methods can gain a satisfying result under any condition.In our country's engineering, one-way compression layer-meshing method based onlinear elastic theory is widely used. Consequently, determination of the stress is veryimportant. In the past, using equivalent deep foundation method to calculate thestresses of pile foundation can gain larger results for it is lack of rationalities. Thus,Mindlin method, which is more rational, is introduced into new code to calculatestresses and settlements of pile foundation. But, there are very few articles with regardto this method, so people is not very familiar to it and design engineers can't givegood judge on its results. Therefore, the author has edited a set of software, based onthis method, to calculate stresses and settlements of pile foundation. What's more,many FEM software products are presented with the rapid development of computer.For FEM is more rational in theory, the author gives a three-dimensional elastic FEManalysis of grouped piles foundation based on the ANSYS software in order to helpthe readers to get a total concept of the results of elastic theory. That this paper can bea better guide to the practice of pile foundation engineering is the author'sexpectation.
