With the development of four-modernization project of our state, ropeway transportation as a new type and convenient transportation means is more and more putinto use. In this new kind transportation method, the key part-towers, their securityand stability have seriously effected on the whole ropeway. So, the designs, calculations and analysis on the intension stiffness stability for the towers are always the important part for the whole design project. However, for past decades, structure designers resorted to the traditional way to analyze and compute the stress and displacement. This method can only show the local stress and displacement of a unit, but has no way to describe the stress, displacement and their distribution rules in the whole structure when the structure is burdened as a whole. As a consequence, the safe coefficient has to be considered according to the result of the calculations when designing. This inevitably makes the structure more redundant than it ought to be. What's more, materials are wasted by this design method.Nowadays, the needs for cableway are increasing acutely. In order to solve this kind of contradiction, cableway designers have to search for a new way for the design project to analysis and compute which can describe not only the local stress and displacement but also the whole stress and displacement and their distribution rules in the whole structure when the structure is loaded as a whole.This new type of method for design calculation now is got and called finite element analysis method., which can solve the conflict mentioned above when applied to engineering. With the help of the electronic computers, engineers employ it to figure out nearly all kinds of engineering problems ranging from astronavigation, construction, waterpower projects, ship-building and mechanical engineering etc. Owing to the strong power of finite element method, one kind of software pack which based on the method is exploited and named Algor Feas to resolve problems on structure analysis for trusses and shells.This paper also employ Algor Feas software pack to analyze and compute the cableway towers, giving the accurate result on stress and displacement both in location and whole. Finally, we also bring out some advice on structure improving.
