With the rapid development of economy, especially in the construction industry,there is some large scale construction. The prominent role of crawler crane is more obvious, the quality of the trolley is larger and the height of the lifting is higher, the crawler crane has a unique advantage in the construction industry.Crawler crane arm frame is composed of elongated flexible member of circular tube, truss arm is an important part. The design of truss arm is very important for the whole crawler crane.In the truss arm design, the truss arm has a very high strength, but the problem of the stiffness and stability is becoming more and more prominent. The stiffness is a problem we need to solve.In this paper, it introduced the current domestic and foreign development status and development trend of crawler crane, and the main research contents and significance of the research are described.This article main content is to establish the standard section of truss arm and circular pipe Using parametric design language(APDL). Then, the bucking stability of the standard section and the circular tube with the different length was analyzed by using ANSYS. The bucking loads of circular tubes and standard sections are obtained by using methods of finite element bucking. The results are summarized and analyzed,and the load of the experiment is determined. Last, the bucking test of the circular tube is carried out, next the test of standard section is carried out.To the research on high strength steel pipe coefficient, the stability coefficient of high strength steel was obtained by the bucking load results of finite element analysis and circular tube test, the modified single limb stability calculation method is formed.To the research on finite element single limb stability calculation method, the trussarm bucking experimental data can verify the result of finite element bucking analysis.the finite element single limb stability calculation method is formed.The method of finite element bucking analysis was carried out on the stability optimization design.
