The model of Fujian power grid and models of generators, excitation systems, governor systems and loads are established, the tested excitation system models of large hydro and thermal units, the model of wind turbine are established as well in this paper with PSS/E, a new software imported from PTI of U.S.A. recently. Some key points are proposed on data convertion from PSASP and BPA to PSS/E. The transient and dynamic characteristics between separate excitation system and transformer-fed excitation (self excitation) system are compared with PSS/E.Applying the system identification technique in the test of excitaion system, the excitation system models of a hydro unit and a thermal unit are established with PSS/E. With those models, power system analysis is also accomplished. The simulation results are compared with the record waveforms. Interconnection of wind farm with the power system is also studied.The work in this paper hastens the application of PSS/E in Fujian power system, hastens the process of excitaion system model test for the modeling with PSS/E. Some suggestions to the selection of the excitation system types of the generating units are proposed. Suggestions to the selection of wind turbine types are also proposed.The power flow results of Fujian power system with PSS/E are agreed to those with BPA and PSASP. The software PSS/E is adapted to the power flow and dynamic anlysis of Fujian power system, so it should be widely used. The tested models and parameters with Dynamic Signal Analyzer HP35670 can be used to the modeling with PSS/E and power system analysis.Based on the project of excitiaon system modeling of the large units in Fujian power system, Application of PSS/E in the Fujian power system is carried out just as a practice. There are more work should be carried out in this area in the future.
