This paper begins by introducing the development and application of computer monitoring and control technique in hydropower station. In order to achieve nobody work and few people watch, electric braking plays a very important role. The paper introduces the work principle of electric braking of hydraulic turbine-generator unit, including generator stator side short circuit braking method, generator-transformer unit high voltage short circuit braking method and reverse connecting braking method. Particularly analyses the characteristic and application situation of electric braking method , stresses on discussing the feasibility and practicability of generator-transformer unit high voltage short circuit braking and reverse connecting braking in middle-small unit .which can offer an importance warranty for selecting an appropriate electric brakingmethod in hydropower station.Now, the characteristic of electric braking of generator unit can be obtained by spot experimentation, after the unit run. In order to accept electric braking characteristic of generator unit at the design phase, so as to choose a logical braking method and best braking parameters, the study of electric braking simulation is necessary. The paper aiming at different braking method, applying Matlab software exploited braking simulation software, which can compute braking time and draw the braking process simulated curve.Finally, applying Panasonic FPO series PLC achieve stator side short circuit braking process automatic control system .
