A mass of dormitories are constructed with an egregious speed overall the country every year.Campus is an active place, in which students get knowledge about many different things and communicate with each other. As the habitation of students, dormitories are not only their home in campus, but also the witnesses of their growth. The environment in dormitory can directly influence students' health condition and mental development. How to suit students' mentality to create a friendly atmosphere? How to improve the living condition in dormitory? This has been a focal problem, which educator and architect all paid great attention to.In this thesis, on the base of analyses of the questionnaire about the dormitory at Zhejiang university and the climate-oriented dormitory designs on the world nowadays. The optimized dormitory models in the Yangtze Delta are discussed. How to improve the physical and mental environment in the dormitory acts as a starting point for this research. Natural ventilation, natural lighting and communication space are three primary standards for the compare. One dormitory is taken apart into dwelling units. Five and six units make up of a dwelling group and several groups form a floor. Then many floors construct an individual dormitory with stairs. We hope that the content in this thesis would be useful in the reconstruction of the old dormitories and the building of the new dormitories in the Yangtze Delta.
