This thesis mainly researches on several aspects of traveling wave directional protection. They are: Acquainting with the basis principle of traveling wave protection. Select out the program and line model, which are propitious to get the better results in traveling wave protection simulation. Gaining the simulation data of traveling wave signal under every fault condition by ATP. Getting analysis results of traveling wave characters. Analyzing the singularity of traveling wave by Max-module theory of wavelet transform. Detailed simulation and analysis on the directional protective relay by detecting current polarity of traveling wave, and additional analysis about some influencing factors. Presenting the resolution of avoiding the fault judgment while one line of the double parallel lines occurs fault. Brief discussion and presenting some potential results of the other branches of the traveling wave directional protection. Expectation of realizing the device of the traveling wave directional protection.
