Study And Application On Statistical Process Control For Local Area Network Cable Production

The technology of Statistical Process Control was invented in 1930s. After about 50 years it became SPC system. Many trades and professions abroad including many cable works have used SPC system. In China, there are many trades, such as electronics, automobile, iron and steel, have used SPC system. And they have yielded some positive results. But until now SPC hasn't been used in cable works. This paper based on the paper"usage of SPC on phone cable product line", is to investigate the usage of SPC in LAN cable. The product technology of LAN cable is same as traditional technology, but need very good capability. So high precision production is very important for LAN cable. In order to confirm high precision production, it is necessary to use SPC in LAN cable product line.To use SPC in cable works, there have four essential prerequisite, first, abundant management knowledge, second, stable product process, third, enough education and training, fourth, sufficient technology. We have carried out ISO9000 for more than 10 years, and have fulfilled the first and second prerequisite. So now training for statistical technology is most important in popularizing SPC. MINITAB is the software, which is essential for SPC.We use SPC in a LAN cable works, in drawing process and auto-test system. Drawing process is the key processes inLAN cable production. And capacitance in the water is most important capability. We note down the data of capacitance, and input the data to MINITAB, then MINITAB can out put control chart and capacity analyze. The result can prove that the process is in good condition. All these works can confirm that we have the condition to prompt SPC in cable works.Since in cable trade most people still use experience to manage production。Even though there are a lot of data can be obtain, but it is only use to decide whether the product is eligible, not to analyze statistical. We must use the conception of capacity, fully use these data, and then we can popularize SPC.It is not easy to popularize SPC technology in China; there is still a long way to go for us to advance SPC.
