The author is engaged in the studying and manufacturing of portable ECG monitor and it's system based on MSP430 ultra low power MCU. According to the characteristic of human's ECG signal, an excellent ECG signal sampling and transmitting system was designed. Further more, The monitor uses ultra low power 16 bits single chip microcomputer MSP430F149 and bulk Flash memory to record, analyse, and process the ECG signal at real time. It can give an alarm when the ECG signal is abnormal or the lead is fallen off. The ECG signal recorded not only can be sent to the monitoring center through telephone line but also can be transmitted to Personal Computer by wireless serial RS232 interface. The monitor uses LCD to show the ECG waves detected. Cooperated with buttons, it provides amicable Chinese menu and makes operation simple and convenient. This monitor can work stably and dependably for a long time, and with some excellencies such as mini volume, bulk memory, low power, etc. It is convenient to be taken with and used. By the use of Visual C++, the author also makes an ECG auto-analysis program which is run at Personal Computer. After having been received, the ECG data can be analysed more perfect at Personal Computer than at ECG monitor, also, it can be sent to the hospital's ECG monitoring center by Internet. This software with friendly interface is convenient to be used. At last, an ECG distortionless data compression algorithm is proposed in this paper. This algorithm is brief, effective and easy to be processed at real time by single-chip microcomputer.
