Physical modeling and preliminary theory of hydraulic characteristic of supercritical flow of gradient with suspension girder are studied in this paper. The different altitude up to base plate and distance between suspension girder has been set up and it lead to different damping ratio. Lots of experiment is done in order to find optimum altitude and distance of suspension girder. Experiment data is analyzed with method of Projection Pursuit for more reliability and utility value. This paper first systematically studied energy dissipater of suspension girder in steep gradient with supercritical flow according to used in actual engineering and received perfect effect. Experimental studies about the distribution velocity, the variation of water surface and pressure are undertaken. In local model, the different kind of suspension girder—I and rectangular beam make different field of velocity characteristic surrounding through two-dimensional velocity experiment. Result display I has more influence to velocity around beam than rectangular beam. The result has some reference value for actual application...
