Eccentrically braced steel frame(EBSF) used in high-rise buildings is a new structural system which has developed in recent years. It performs excellent energy-consuming ability when bearing unwonted earthquake. This paper focuses on the research of anti-seismic parameters of EBSF.Firstly, this paper presents the theory of EBSF and relevant developing situation inside and outside China. Then, on the basis of the simplified yielding model of active beam link, which is the key component of EBSF, the deformation mechanism and geometry relation equation under different kinds of loads are analyzed, and then the ideal yielding mechanism of EBSF is proposed. According to these , applying the virtual work theory, this paper analyzed the influence of active beam link on the terminal carrying capacity, stiffness and ductibility of three types of EBSF. Several formula about the length of active beam link are also introdued.Similarly, according to the deformation mechanism of EBSF and the virtual work theory, the influence of three different active beam links on the terminal carrying capacity, stiffness and ductibility of EBSF is deducted. Moreover, the EBSF is compared with none braced frames and centrically braced frames on performance.Lastly, some relevant examples are presented in accordance with different lengths of active beam link and different types of EBSF. Then those examples are calculated by finite element analytical software and the results are consistent with theoretic conclusion. This paper is applicable to structural designs.
