Fitting New Building With Old In Historic Environment

Today the protection and renewal of historic environment is widely focused. Historic building and environment is not only the memory of one country, but also the enchantment of certain place ."It is composed of the evidence of human's culture, religion and society's creativity and diversity". It is the precious resource that human can't reproduce. Now we architects are searching the way to solve the conflict and confrontation between individuality and inherent of each local regions vs. commonality and globalization of the world. The protection of historic environment is an important problem we are facing with. In the past, the growth of a city was very slowly. Today, with the industrialization and technology progress, a city is expanding wildly. In this condition, physical space and humanistic space are changed and reconstructed. This kind of renewal is accompanied with the protection of historic environment. There are a lot of problems concerning with the protection and renewal of historic environment. This paper is searching the way of fitting new building with old in historic environment. In the beginning of this paper is the theory of protection and renewal, then is the development of the theory in different times. The main sections of this paper are talking about "how to fit new buildings with old". In order to express this question clearly, new buildings are divided into two kinds .The specific means of new buildings design are concluded into two aspects: the form and the space. In the end, the paper analyzes some practical projects investigated by the writer. Through these methods the writer put forward some suggestions for design new buildings in historic environment.
