Combined with the practice of great project,and based on the wide investigation and gathering materials,the paper makes study on the strengthening technique in Huangbizhuang reservoir through the combination of theoretical investigation and practical analysis.Firstly,a study is made on the main diseases usualy happened and disposing plan of the dams composed with earth and stone. The principle of anti-seepage of the dams is to block up upside and drain underside. The measures of blocking up include vertical and horizontal anti-seepage. In this paper,several anti-seepage measures frequently used in the strengthening projects of earth-and-stone dams are expounded. Through the analysis of the status of Huangbizhuang Reservoir and other problems,such as its destruction caused by water seeping,and with the reference to the internal successful application,the project adopted the measure of constructing concrete cut-off wall on body and foundation of the auxiliary dam between Stake No. 0+840 and Stake No. 5+740.During the construction of concrete cut-off wall of the auxiliary dam in Huangbizhuang Reservoir,in the section with complex geographical condition,especially the closure section of concrete cut-off wall(about 120m ),the deterioration of the underground water's flow state and the existence of the overseep channel in the stratum result in the several collapses in the dam crest. Through the analysis of ever}1 collapse's reason,the proposal of handling measure and its effect,the paper expounds and proves that the cut-off wall can be safely constructed and devoted into normal usage after dealing with collapse. The psper improves the construction technique and method of concrete cut-off wall especially under complex geological condition and in the overseep stratum. The paper also puts forward the construction mainpoints about the strengthening of the concrete cut-off wall in the geologically complex stratum. At the same time,the paper puts forward the important viewpoints,that is,the crux of the cut-off wall construction in the overseep stratum is to block the overseep channel by slip casting inadvance before the cut-off wall's construction. The paper also makes analysis on the defects in the collapse displsal,which affords other internal similar projects lessons that merit attention.
