At present, the environmental pollution and the lack of unsustainable energy have become necessary problems in every country all over the world. Beijing, the capital of China, was one of the most polluted cities. With applying for the Olympic Games in 2008 successfully, the solution of the environmental pollution in Beijing become more urgent. Since Geotherm is a kind of clean and sustainable energy, the Gradient Utilization System of Geotherm will play an important role in the related field. In the thesis, the schemes of system, technical performance and economic performance were researched and analyzed through the Demonstration Project of the Geothermal Space Heating of Beijing University of Technology. To start with, two kinds of the engineering models were introduced in the thesis through the design in the middle-size Gradient Utilization of Geothermal Energy for Space Heating System (GUGESHS) in the building of the School of Economics and Management, the Geo-heat system for space heating in the Yifu Library and the Multi-function Sci-Tech Block. And the performance of the main heating equipment using in the two systems including heat pump and fan coil were analyzed. Moreover, the technical and economic performances of GUGESHS are analyzed comprehensively in terms of plenty of measurement in them. And the economic performance has been improved by amending these systems. At last, according to the designing, operating practice, heating equipment performance and related factors, the principle of confirming the number of stages in the GUGESHS were suggested in this thesis. Above all, the conclusion in the thesis plays an important role in the reasonable utilization of the low temperature geothermal water and the design of the GUGESHS.
