Since 2000, great combination and recombination were carried out in common college and the target to develop educational industrialization was brought forward in our country. The new requests for environment design in campus were put forward to adapt to the profound changes. With the advancement of logistics socialization in college, it's put into practice firstly on the construction of academician dorm. According to the principles of society investment, society management and unconstraint for students, new modern academician "apartment house" have been formed. Facing the campus and dwelling zone outside campus, which are more integrated and larger area, we should survey the relationship of architecture and people and environment again. In this era, the meaning of study on the habitation environment is not only to satisfy the basic living demands, but to reflect times variance and behavior and psychology characteristic of modern academician.The apartment house has a distinguish status, which is between education architecture and resident architecture, and has two roles which affords habitation space and influences students with its environment. Therefore, it has practical sense to choose academician apartment house for the research topic, which is most basic and typical in higher education campus architecture. Through multilevel and multiple orientation study, the article concludes a series of design factors, principles and evaluation methods, which may be used for reference and intercommunion.Based on theories of space, environment and behavior, the article investigates space conformation and environment design of academician apartment house from the view point on architecture, sociology, psychology and environment-behavior theory.Chapter one: as the theory base of this article, it introduces the environment-behavior theory, the content of space conformation and the connection of space and communication behavior. Chapter two: after stating the history evolution of college campus plan briefly and analyzing the diversification development and influence factors of space conformation, the article emphasizes the study on communication space, then concludes the theory of space conformation and environment design factors of modern apartment house.Chapter three: a series of design cases are analyzed and the ways of tradition dorm's restructing are discussed particularly. Chapter four: based on the analysis of the former three chapters, two design practice, "unit block" apartment house and flexibility apartment house are set out. Moreover, the article brings out the development trend of apartment house, such as humanistic approach, flexibility, multiform and intelligentize.Chapter five: linking to the investigation of two apartment blocks in Wuhan, the article introduces and studies the evaluation factor and methods, such as estimation on quality of environment, estimation on communication space, annotation of space conformation and attaching public to design process and reintegrate design expression. It can be a gist to check up the design process and using condition for achieving a target of harmonious relationship of people and environment.In conclusion, through studying a series of cases and surveys on the spot, combining with the nowadays and future society development, this article emphasizes on the discussion of the concept and factor and evaluation methods of space conformation and environment design in both theory and practice. It's expected that this study can provide some reference and enlighten design practice and future development in new period.
