Study On Space Conformation And Landscape Of The City Square In Hangzhou

As a sitting room in a city, City Square is an essential node in urban space. By comparing Chinese and overseas city squares and tracing back city square development history, this paper is aiming to seek for social, psychological and cultural significance of city squares. Taking Wulin Square as an example, this paper specifically studies on space conformation and landscape of Hangzhou City square, including its key function, spatial structure, trend of future landscape development, potential operational mechanism and construction principles of city squares, hoping to serve as a reference to Hangzhou Municipality Urban Design Department and relevant urban landscape planning designers.
