With the forming and perfection of the electric power market, the gird has put forward a series of strict request of the range and speed of the frequency modulation and peak modulation for the unit of the thermal power plant for its own security and economic benefits. The market principle of competitive price forces the thermal power plant to tap the potentialities of the unit, raise the efficiency, reduce personnel, lower cost . For this reason, based on the theory of the CIMS, this issue presents the architecture of CIPS in the thermal power plant, analyses the technique for the completely control by computer to the process of the unit based on DCS, which has improved the automation level of the enterprise greatly. The computer can not only carry on the control of individual equipment and production process, but also link these individual production units together to control. For example, we can realize the coordinated control and correlative regulating to the stove. Besides, computer communication network is standardized, which make information sharing and data transmit under different computer system, dispel the automation" detached island" in the past.
