It is a fact that solid particles exist in pure liquid lubricants and affect their performances. There are two ways that the solid particles come from:(1)environment and wear particles;(2)solid additives suspending in carrier fluids. Interactions between the particles, liquids and the frictional surfaces will greatly affect the performances of the tribopairs. So studies on the liquid-solid lubrication not only have great significance to lubrication theory, but also have great value in application.Among the tribopairs in an engine, piston ring-cylinder bore system is the most complex and important one. So the researches on this system will be of great significance. Based on an experiment performed on the piston ring-cylinder bore wear tester,liquid-solid lubrication is investigated in this thesis. The wear of the samples under different lubrication conditions (the solid concentrations are 0%,0.02% and 0.1% by weight) are discussed. The variations of the surface topography, especially the statistical parameters and functional parameters are studied, and the reasons that cause the variations are analysed. This work has provided the foundation for the design of the surface topography and theoretical research on liquid-solid lunbrication.
