Destruction of erosion exists widespread and serious. There are many reasons of causing destruction of erosion. Apron don't give full play to eliminating reminder of energy and adjusting velocity of flow in order to avoid or decrease erosion is one of them. In view of this problem, this paper curries out serials of hydraulic model test to fine out the mechanism of effect of roughened apron extension upon energy dissipation and erosion control. There are two schemes of experiment in this paper. One studies effect of roughened apron upon velocity of the bottom of running water, because the area that The velocity of flow is low is the main mechanism of lightening erosion. The other studies effect of roughened apron upon scour. Then fine out when apron is fixed objects to make it rough, the speed of bottom of water in the limited district next section having the objects becomes lower, and the depth of scour cuts down 50% to 70%. Soft or hard quality and arrangement of the objects doesn't affect velocity of flow and erosion.Due to objective condition, don't carry on experiments of non-steady flow. So, use the experimental result of steady flow when the water level and discharge is the most unfavorable in the cause of opening sluice gate to study approximately the effect to erosion control. The result is that extension of erosion is greatly decreased, even eliminate the scour.
