Nowadays, theater building and the artistic form which carriedon-theatre.....face a lot of difficulties either in survive and development.The coming new upsurge of building theater urges the architect design can quickly locate the problems and solve them quickly as well. This paper is trying to investigate the design of theater building, and find out the way to solve problems based on the analysis of behavior & psychology of audience.The theater building has experienced more than 3000 years history since its cradle time. It has evolved form the holy sacrifice place to one of the most important places of human cultural activities, mainly due to the factor of people. Because the concentration on the people give rise of the theater building's development and evolution, and will still push it forward, this is the meaning and reason this paper pay attention to the behavior & psychology of audience.The issues, the theater building facing, are in many ways, and it \\oul-J take quite a long time to find out the answer. This paper makes attempts based on the full researches. First, the atmosphere of watching theatre be constructed. A balanced network of the life of the theatrical culture be initiated by those theater buildings of different scale, of different type to narrow the gap between the theatre and the man on the street. Second, in the design of the specific theater building, more attentions be paid to the audience, and the watching behavior psychology is a key factor as well. This paper analysis the audience psychology and the presents the ways to the solution of the corresponding building design. The psychology of ihe other user group of the theater, the actor, is analysed too. On the foundation, in this paper it is put forward the meaning and the design standard of the interactive watching space, and according to the different types of stage the element and technique of design is discussed. With all those researches and analysis, this paper try to illuminate the way of the later theater design.In China, the building designer is confused by the problems of the inheritance to the traditional construct culture, so is the design of the theater building. Modern psychology researches have proved that different culture background influences the psychological mood of person greatly.The traditional building, whether in China or West, reflects the significant behavior psychology diversities. Those diversities can be the guide of today's Chinese theater design. The Chinese theater building should be designed on the basis of the Chinese psychological requirement, instead of the duplication of the West.The watching behavior psychology is a complex subject to explore, however, cannot be neglected. That would be an honor to do something as much as possible within my capability.
