| Simulation model of freeway ramp describes the microcosmic characteristics of traffic flow by analyzing the movements and interactions of individual driver-vehicle units. The research of simulation model is very useful to traffic operation, management, safety, capacity, and level of service, etc. This paper presents the history and up-to-date fruits of microcosmic simulation models. Based on a lot of field data collected on highways in Beijing, the merging and diverging behaviors are analyzed thoroughly. To identify whether a driver accepts the gap or not, a binary logit model was brought out in the merging model. The acceleration is updated by the optimization algorithm, in which the safe index is maximized under the certain restricts. In the diverging model, the characteristic of diverging is described, three types of lane-changing model are established, they are free mode, adaptive mode and squeeze mode. |
