Air-spring is one of the major parts in the suspension system of high-speed railway cars, and it also has wide application in other industrial branches. Because of its non-linearity of geometry, material and boundary in the Finite Element Method(FEM), its computer simulation is relatively complex and difficult. Until now. there is no satisf~抜ng solution for its computation. In this paper, it is the first time that the D580 air-spring has been analyzed by ABAQUS, a non-linear FEM software being widely used. This paper considered its mechanical properties under different working conditions and discussed several main parameters. Compared with the data of experiments, it shows that the methods used in this paper are feasible. The methods are fit for the simulation of other kind of air-springs and could be reference for air-spring designing.
