This thesis mainly focuses on the launching canister of storage and transport. In order to decrease the mass of the structure without obviously decrease its stiffness, making full use of the material, plywood and carling used for supporting was optimized using structure optimization theory.Firstly, the 3D model of launching canister of storage and transport was made, which was simplified reasonably. On the basis of some hypothesis, the FEM geometric model was made and optimized using topology optimization. The reasonable structure was calculated on the axial direction. After that, the FEM geometric model for size optimization was made. Base on the result of sensitivity analysis concerning 10 variables, size optimization was made. Considering about the result of size optimization and the real structure and requirement of the launching canister of storage and transport, the thickness of plywood and carling was calculated. Then, the shape of cross-section of the plywood was analyzed, which can be a reference of the design of the shape of cross-section. Finally, the stress and strain of the final optimized structure under different working conditions were analyzed.As a result of structure optimized optimization, the mass of canister of storage and transport decreased at the percentage of about 20%.
